On Friday February 17th, 12 Wellesley skiers and 2 WPI skiers drove up to Jericho, VT for regionals. The course in Jericho is managed by the Vermont National Guard and the National Guard graciously put up all the teams in their barracks. On Friday night one of our skiers’ parents brought up dinner, which was greatly appreciated! On Saturday we had a early start, racing a 7.5 km classic race at 10am. Conditions were difficult but the sun was out! In the afternoon there was 1 km skate race. It was so warm by the afternoon that most of the our skiers raced in their sports bras! Two of our skiers had top 10 times, enabling them to move onto the quarter finals. 1 of our skiers then moved on to the semi-finals, finishing 7th overall. On Saturday night our team hosted a pasta dinner as a fundraiser. We cooked grilled cheese sandwiches, tomato soap, and of course pasta. On Sunday morning we had a 15 km skate race. All of our skiers competed in this race, with some doing 1 or 2 laps as well as a several skiers completing all 3 laps. It was a great ski filled weekend and to top it off 2 of our skiers qualified for nationals in Bend, OR. Stay tuned for a post about nationals. For more pictures please visit our gallery page.
